The Akshy Association promotes gender equality in all the fields in which we work. We have set up a Women’s Centre from which the various activities carried out in this connection are coordinated.
The women in rural India, especially in the extremely poor areas, are rejected even before birth. Afterwards they face discrimination and violence in their work as well as in their personal and social life, and all in spite of the fact that the Indian Constitution clearly states the principle of gender equality.
