Primary

We have more than 200 pupils and 3 schools.  We place special emphasis on the schooling of girls since they are the ones with a higher risk of vulnerability – being forced to work at domestic chores instead of going to school and being forced also to marry while still a child.  In Akshy we believe in these girls as a key component of change and sustainable progress.

Akshay Educational Centre

The Akshay school was the first school we opened in the village of Amwan in 2006. Since 2012 the Akshay school is located in the building of the Akshay Educational Centre sharing the space with other activities of the NGO.

At the Akshay School we teach until the 5th grade, the end of the primary cycle in India and the 6th grade. We follow the curriculum of subjects of the State of Bihar and incorporate the plastic arts in addition to assessing the relationship with the environment. In their education we also include a program of ethical values (Universal Education) that marks the philosophy of our NGO and we care that our students grow with dignity.

We currently have 213 students, among which 50% are girls because we attach great impi importance to the education of girls.

Kamal School

In 2013 we started the Kamal school in a rural village far away from Bodhgaya, where there are a large number of children out of school who come from families living in extreme poverty.

At the moment we have 38 boys and girls divided into two classes, where they receive education according to the curriculum of the Indian Government.
With the Kamal School we are also encouraging interest in education, both in children and parents, who have been involved enormously from the beginning and have collaborated with us. In fact, it was a group of moms who asked us for help so their childchildren could study.

Shanti Niketan School

Located in the village of Nautapur, near Bodhgaya, where the poorest community lives in an area of the village completely separated from the rest, and works mainly in the lands of other farmers or loading and unloading tractors of sand. They do not have land, so they are daily workers who only earn a daily wage when there is work.

Universal Education

We support all education promoting qualities and values such as ethics, wisdom, responsibility or altruism, universal concepts which can be shared by all people independently of their age, culture, race or religion.

Our objective is to educate towards a meaningful life where each person can develop his potential for happiness and personal excellence and so contribute from this to the well being of the general  public, leading in consequence to an improved society and a more harmonious world.

Every morning we hold a period of meditation to help our pupils concentrate, be fully aware of the present and find peace and tranquility throughout the day.

In Akshy we believe that education is the basis for our future as well as for our day-to-day life and for this reason we also believe that the values and attitudes promoted by Universal Education are essential  in giving honesty to our project.
