We pay for the secondary education of those students who, once Grade 5 (primary education) is completed in the Akshay Educational Centre, wish to further their studies provided their families are in agreement.
These boys and girls continue to attend schools in Bodhgaya where they have classmates of all different castes. We also finance the daily support classes given in certain centres. We act as tutors for daily studies and the Akshay Educational Centre gives them classes every Sunday on values. They learn to widen their minds and knowledge with videos and talks, etc.
It is very important to consider the secondary education of girls. This is a challenge for us bearing in mind the traditional difficulties linked to child marriage and the woman’s place in the home.
